what is bandwidth 20mhz 40mhz

On the 5 GHz band, set the channel width to 40 MHz and see if that improves reliability. Keep in mind that 80 MHz and 160 MHz channel widths may carry the promise of extra speed, but will also interfere with, and receive interference from, many more sources than 40 MHz. On the 2.4 GHz band, set the channel width to 20 MHz and see if that
40Mhz will give you higher bandwidth/performance but will overlap other channels so if you have many outside wifi networks visible in your area 20Mhz would be best. 0 Kudos Reply

Just made a change to my 802.11AC from 80MHz bandwidth to 40MHz bandwidth and it works. Unlike 802.11N it doesn't change to 40MHz bandwidth, 802.11N only uses 20MHz bandwidth (a slower speed compare to 40MHz). 2 GHz drivers are required to drop to 20 MHz if another AP is detected in the extended channel.

Created on July 22, 2022. Creating 40MHz Hotspot, possible? Windows 11. I was wondering if such thing is possible, given that the 20MHz band is only yielding 25Mbps most times from my AX200 wifi card running the March release of the drivers. Using my Note 20 with Extended WLAN details, the hotspot is only a 20MHz width.
1 Answer. Sorted by: 2. No, you shouldn't disable that setting if any of your client devices use Bluetooth and sometimes need to use 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. What Netgear calls "20/40MHz coexistence" is probably just the required respect for the "40MHz intolerant" bit that some clients set.
40MHz Bandwidth. If you need a data transfer rate higher than what you are getting at the 20MHz channel, you can always go for 40MHz channel bandwidth. In 40MHz, you will not get as many channels as 20MHz, but you can still get 12 non-overlapping channels if you use it with a frequency of 5MHz.

Channel bonding creates more room for data by bonding or combining two or more 20 MHz channels into a single 40, 80, or 160 MHz channel. Channel bonding increases the data rate because data rate is directly proportional to channel bandwidth. 802.11a/b/g networks use a single 20 MHz channel. 802.11n networks can use a 40 MHz channel. 802.11ac Wave 1 allows for 80 MHz channels, while 802.11ac

We changed to 40mhz channels and reenabled UNII1 on all APs and the speed issue seems to have disappeared. I think we could probably reenable 80mhz channels but I dont think it will make a huge difference for us in terms of speed as I cap WAN bandwidth at 150mbit and we aren't sending a lot of big files that would necessitate 80mhz wide channels.

Table 1: 20 MHz channels on the 5 GHz band. Creating 40 MHz, and larger channels involve bonding multiple neighboring channels together. Each bonded channel has a primary 20 MHz channel that is used when an 802.11n or 802.11ac access point communicates with a legacy 802.11a client or an 802.11n or 802.11ac client that is artificially limited to smaller channels.
